CONCEPT WAR HORSE

CONCEPT WAR HORSE

The concept was to create a war horse whose mane would be armored for protection while maintaining flexibility for full motion and reticulation of the horse's head.

The sculpture was modeled using WED Walter E. Disney clay and then cast as a latex model from a two part fiberglas mold.

WHERE DO FISH GO IN WINTER?

WHERE DO FISH GO IN WINTER?

Soft sculpture studies showing how fish societies function during times of adversity.

Experiment with texture and volume.

FISH CONCEPT SKETCH

FISH CONCEPT SKETCH

A quick study experiment in shape and texture contrasting materials for tactile experiences. Soft matte textures and pliable reflective and transparent materials create an interplay of tactile experiences.

THE WEARABLE OFFICE

THE WEARABLE OFFICE

Ann Dunham's TheWearable Office, a series of three work related wearable technology platforms, was selected for presentation at the Raymond Street Gallery in Pasadena, California as the Fall MFA MS Product Design student study.

Ann's focus was deconstructing work, transportability of tasks and blurring edges of products used to symbolize traditional gender roles of work.

The painted wall graphics were done in collaboration with another student in the Master's Program.

THE WEARABLE OFFICE PART 1

THE WEARABLE OFFICE PART 1

The Wearable Office is an apron with wristlets on stretch cables that connect products to tasks so one person can multi task.

The apron is a specific item of work attire whether adapted by a waitress or a carpenter. The colorful transparent and lace panels create screens to project content and mood.

Shown with an early design of the typewriter and presented with wearable flower vase attached.

THE WEARABLE OFFICE 2

THE WEARABLE OFFICE 2

This wearable office is for after hours.

THE IDEA CLOUD

THE IDEA CLOUD

The Idea Cloud is an experiment in imagining, reflection and portability. The object is a series of linked circular paillettes that when connected become a system of wearable idea reflecting tiles that float as a cloud above the wearer levitated by helium balloons.

The Idea Cloud, when tied together becomes a wearable portable storage space and receptacle for ideas.

Concept created by Ann Dunham and presented at the Raymond Street Gallery by Graduate MFA Program Product Design students at The Art Center College of Design.

The Idea Cloud was part of a three part series of wearable work spaces designed and presented by Ann Dunham.

THE WEARABLE OFFICE PART 3

THE WEARABLE OFFICE PART 3

The ATOMIC OFFICE is an experiment in imagining, reflection, projection and portability.

The object is a series of proportionally gridded reflective projection and reception panels that when connected become a system of wearable idea reflecting tiles that become communication panels projecting and receiving information.

Light acts to stimulate the reflective surface of the wearable screen to project or receive images and data. The inspiration was Russian Constructivist methods of mass communication. Asymmetrical and geometric patterns on fabric were designed and fabricated by the workers. Ann emphasized the importance of women as designers in their roles as makers of textiles and communication modalities in the radical revisioning of society.

The Atomic Office, when illuminated becomes a wearable portable projection and reception device for communicating with others.

Concept created by Ann Dunham and presented at the Raymond Street Gallery by Graduate MFA Program Product Design students at The Art Center College of Design.

DETACHED A MUSICAL INSTRUMENT BASED ON THE HUMAN BODY

DETACHED was created by Ann Dunham for a gallery show by students in the Masters of Product Design quarterly show within the MFA Program at The Art Center College of Design.

The project brief required designing a musical instrument based on the human body.

Making use of man made and natural materials skeletal and organ systems were simulated to parallel the musical scale to create tones, harmonics and repeatable musical sounds.

Materials used are redwood, poplar, hand cast polymers, nylon guitar strings, lighting and welded metals.

The DILEMMA CENTER

The DILEMMA CENTER

A fictitious thinking complex where society address the most perplexing issues facing the community. The arcs rotate in uneven elliptical rhythms

Part of a 3 book graphic novel, 'WORLD' written and illustrated by Ann Dunham as a graduate thesis project Art Center College of Design.

Created and modeled in MAYA.

THE DILEMMA CENTER WHAT'S THE ANSWER?

THE DILEMMA CENTER WHAT'S THE ANSWER?

As part of the fictional world created by Ann Dunham the architectural and intellectual problem solving center is purple with an uneven spinning glass ring patterned in moire as a roof umbrella.
